Product Overview

The CGS Helios QD is famously the can that tested extremely well in PEW Science's 308 bolt gun testing and then shit the bed when it came to semiauto 5.56 testing. It wouldn't have been so bad if the can wasn't a 30 cal model marketed (and even transferred on NFA forms) as a 5.56 silencer. The designer was pretty active on Reddit leading up to the Mk18 10.3" 5.56 PEW Science data drop and then disappeared not long after that. If you get this can for a semiauto (and who the fuck would buy a 20 oz inconel can for a bolt action), you want a muzzle device that juts up as close to the blast baffle as possible to get the gas jet past the first reflector. There are annular pathways leading out of the second chamber of the can, but not out of the blast/first chamber, and that causes higher back pressure on gas guns than is ideal. The first baffle is very shallowly placed in the silencer; so much so that they include an extender ring to increase the depth of the blast chamber. It's HUB threaded, so you can use it with a QD system of choice. You should definitely run Keymo on it to add an extra 8 oz to your 20 oz silencer.

This thing is a fucking tank. They used to come with nice hard cases to house the included direct thread mounts (1/2-28 and 5/8-24), the extra end cap (comes with solid and vented ones), and the blast chamber extender, but now they give you a plastic box with the can wrapped in socks so that everything isn't loose in the box.

$1550 or $1650 is a price that is out of touch with reality at this point, and there is no reason to ever pay that much for it. But for $1000, we think it's a better deal.
