Product Overview
The CGS SCI-SIX is a product originating out of a partnership between CGS and SC Irregulars. It was designed to do what a Surefire SOCOM556 RC2 does, but better. In essence, its goals were to have a less shitty and carbon-lock-prone QD system and improve on its durability and back pressure, all while not compromising on flash or sound suppression. PEW Science tested the silencer on a 10.3" 5.56 rifle and found that in terms of sound and back pressure, the silencer basically achieved its goals. It induces less back pressure than an RC2 while being ever so slightly louder at the muzzle on a 10.3" gun. This is a silencer in my personal collection, and having shot it in the dark and under nods, I can also attest to the superb flash suppressing capability.
Where else does the SCI-SIX beat the RC2? Price. It's less expensive, and the company doesn't immediately expect you to spend an extra $150+ on a muzzle device that isn't included. A birdcage-style 1x16LH flash hider is included with the SCI-SIX.
These used to come in nice hard cases. Now they come in the same plastic boxes that a lot of companies use, and the can is wrapped in some CGS-branded socks so that shit isn't bouncing around.
One last thing to note. This thing might be rated for 6mm. There is zero evidence from CGS' website that it is. Social media thinks it is. How fucking dumb would it be to include SIX in your model name and not bore it for 6mm? I would ask CGS before putting this on a 6ARC.
